Qualifications

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: This position requires incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The Electrician frequently lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 30 pounds. Occasionally, they lift or move with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing more than 50 pounds. Work is performed inside buildings for most of the time, but works outside occasionally, exposed to the weather elements. The work is dirty, dusty and greasy. Incumbent is exposed to shop noise and there is possibility of broken bones, electrical shock, burns, cuts and bruises. Incumbent is subject to the ever-present hazards of cuts, bruises, falls burns, and electrical shock. At times the incumbent may be exposed to asbestos, fiberglass and other related substances, bad weather, sometimes in work areas that are noisy, dirty or greasy. May also work from cranes or scaffolding at heights of 30 or more feet. Incumbent is required to wear a hard hat, safety shoes and glasses in designated areas. This position includes a Selective Placement Factor (skill, knowledge, ability or other worker characteristic basic to - and essential for - satisfactory performance of the job). Selective Placement Factors are a prerequisite to appointment and represent minimum requirements for a position. Applicants who do not meet it are ineligible for further consideration. The Selective Placement Factor for this position is: possess a valid and current State Driver's License.
