General Position Description: Responsible for researching, planning, and recommending enhancements to improve efficiency and productivity in the delivery of financial aid to students. Serves as a subject-matter expert for financial aid systems and processes, with a primary focus on Ellucian Banner. Partners with Financial Aid, IT, and institutional stakeholders to analyze business needs, optimize system functionality, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations
Salary Range: $63,150 - $71,360
Description of Job Function: 1. Serves as the lead technical liaison between Financial Aid and IT, translating strategic and operational business needs into effective technical solutions that support institutional initiatives and student success.
2. Leads the analysis, design, configuration, testing, and implementation of financial aid processes within Ellucian Banner, ensuring system functionality.
3. Supports regulatory compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid requirements, including but not limited to Title IV, FAFSA, and COD, through accurate system setup and reporting.
4. Provides advanced data analysis and reporting to support operational oversight, and strategic decision-making.
5. Coordinates the maintenance of financial aid reports in the ARGOS reporting system, ensuring report accuracy, reliability, and alignment with operational, compliance, and reporting requirements.
6. Evaluates and assesses system practices and workflows, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve productivity.
7. Develops and delivers training materials and conduct regular training sessions for Financial Aid staff to support software changes.
8. Analyzes financial aid business processes and develops comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, process flows, business rules, and user documentation, to support staff operations and student service needs.
9. Provides project and team leadership during system implementations, enhancements, and data conversion projects.
10. Supervises and trains Business Analysts, ensuring effective knowledge transfer, consistency in analysis and documentation, and adherence to established standards and best practices.
11. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex system issues, implement enhancements, and manage system upgrades. Analyzes the impacts of upgrades on existing processes and data and determines potential impact.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.
Other Required Qualifications: At least three years of experience in Financial Aid or related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Ability to analyze and interpret data and to clearly and effectively communicate technical information to individuals at all levels of the organization with varying levels of understanding.
2. Skill in the use of personal computers, related office software, relational databases, data warehousing, SQL and statistical programming and visualization software.
3. Knowledge and understanding of Federal Financial Aid regulations.
4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management and reporting.
5. Ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments, organize work, make decisions, and function independently.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and support college-wide initiatives.
7. Ability to plan, initiate, and carry out assignments independently.
8. Ability to communicate effectively interpersonally, orally, and in writing.
General Working Conditions: This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
